Fall Protection Equipment We Recommend
Choosing the right fall protection equipment is an important part of creating a safer work environment. Based on our industry experience, HOST has identified equipment and solutions we recommend for a variety of fall protection applications. Explore our recommendations below.
Fall Restraint
Fall restraint systems are designed to help prevent a worker from reaching an area where a fall could occur. Depending on the application, these systems may use passive protection, such as guardrails, or personal fall restraint equipment. Based on our industry experience, the following are HOST’s recommended fall restraint equipment and solutions:
-
Guardrail systems provide a physical barrier between workers and exposed edges or openings, helping prevent exposure to fall hazards.
-
Full-body harnesses may be used as part of a personal fall restraint system when properly configured with the appropriate connecting and anchorage components.
-
Appropriate lifelines and lanyards can be used to limit a worker's travel and help prevent them from reaching a fall hazard
-
Anchorage and connecting components provide secure connection points as part of a properly designed personal fall restraint system.
Fall Arrest
Fall arrest systems are designed to safely stop a worker after a fall has begun. These systems use multiple components that work together to arrest the fall and help manage the forces placed on the worker. Based on our industry experience, the following are HOST’s recommended fall arrest equipment and solutions.
-
A full-body harness is worn by the worker and distributes fall-arrest forces across the body when used as part of a properly configured system.
-
SRLs extend and retract as the worker moves and are designed to arrest a fall when activated.
-
Depending on the system and application, lifelines and lanyards provide the connection between the worker and the anchorage system
-
Anchorage points and connectors provide the structural connection required for the fall arrest system.
-
Energy-absorbing components help reduce the forces generated during a fall-arrest event.
Equipment shown on this page is recommended by Hands-On Safety Training for informational purposes. Always follow applicable requirements and the equipment manufacturer's instructions for proper selection, installation, inspection, and use.
